The Kinks, led by Ray Davies, based this song of their first hit ("You've really got me") and it reached number 2 in the US in 1964. It was later covered by The Stranglers.

Get Ready (The Temptations)

This track, originally recorded by The Temptations, became hugely well known when it was covered and released by Rare Earth. Rare Earth were the first white band to be signed to the Motown label and took the song to number 5 in 1970.

Brown Sugar (Rolling Stones)

This track, written by Mick Jagger when he was in Austrailia filming "Ned Kelly", was the first record to be released on Rolling Stones Records under the now legendary Tongue logo. It was released in 1971 and has been covered too many times to mention. Watch out for Chris' guitar solo.

Money For Nothing (Dire Straits)

This song was inspired by the real life conversation of two delivery men overheard in a department store by Mark Knopfler. It was the first song played when MTV Europe went live in 1987. Reaching Number 1 in the US, it only managed No 4 in the UK.

In the Midnight Hour (Wilson Pickett)

This track was written in an hour when Pickett was on a road trip to Memphis in 1965. It has been a classic, that gets people on the dance floor, for four decades and is still going strong.
